I think this matter is heavily subjective. Which is one more reason to respect your opinions.

It really took me a while to learn canvas. And, as I do with JavaScript, I use only a subset of it. But once you learned it, you realize that its rules make sense, they are objective; it is pure logic and math.

When it comes to CSS, well, there must be a reason for people creating dozens of patterns, tools and languages that compile to CSS.
