I'm also writing "minibob", which is a specific (reduced) version of BobSprite for smartphones (small screen, no mouse, no keyboard), so fewer features. This time really a single canvas app.

"This app is not for smartphones". - Truth. But that has nothing to do with whether it is canvas-based or not. Each version of a drawing tool (browser-based or not) is designed to run on smartphones or computers, not both.
